Remember to breathe and take your time while driving these next few weeks. Everyone seems very hyped up right now and you can sense it, especially when driving on RTE 114. That road is bad at the best of times~so, proceed with caution.
I hope all of you are gearing up for exams and looking forward to a nice break. The college is closed from December 24th- January 4th. We are offering several courses during the month of January, but seats are filling up quickly, so take a look now!
Be back next week with more friendly advice from the Admissions Office. BTW, the photo to the right of this blog is NOT me!

Greeting from NSCC Admissions
Hello again from the Admissions Office~
I took a little break from my blog, but I am back!
I will be sharing information with you from many different corners of the college. Hopefully, there will be something for everyone. For example, I will be asking the Veteran's Representative to let you know what is going on here at the college for Veterans. I will also ask Student Life to update us on college activities. The ESL department will fill us in on their program and some of our Learning Communities will be able to use this venue to promote their unique programs. Hopefully, this will be a great forum for information sharing and each week we will have a new and interesting focal point.
Have a great long weekend and for those of you who eat Turkey, enjoy your nap afterwards :)

Second Post From Jen
Hi Everyone,
This is my second time "blogging". I just read the posts from the student blogs and they are really interesting, heartfelt and a great window into the lives of NSCC students. I read with great interest the most recent one about overcoming fear and it was powerful and inspirational. I highly recommend following the student bloggers!
The Admissions office has one more Open House scheduled this Wednesday at 5:30 in Danvers. These Open Houses are free and open to the public. Please pass on the word to your friends and family members who may be interested in learning more about NSCC. We will be focusing this event on "paying for college" and how to save money by attending community college first, then possibly transferring on to a four year school. A financial aid expert from MEFA will be there to explain the financial aid process-grants, loans, scholarships, etc. We also have some great current student speakers who will talk candidly about their life here at NSCC. It is always good to hear the student perspective. It should be a great evening!
Enjoy the beautiful weather while you can!

Welcome to NSCC
Hi,
My name is Jen Kirk and I am the Director of Admissions here at North Shore Community College. This is my first ever blog entry and I am really excited. I would like to extend a warm welcome to all NSCC students, new and returning! Did you know that we reached record enrollments this year? We were just shy of enrolling 8,000 students-which is a 10.3% increase from last year! You may have noticed that we have done some creative scheduling this fall and we are offering classes in the afternoon, more on-line and a few on Saturdays. This has helped to ease some of the overcrowding and made the parking a little more manageable-no? I hope so.
If you have any friends who might be interested in learning more about the college, please let them know that we have 2 Open Houses coming up. One in Lynn this Thursday (10/22) at 5:30 and one in Danvers next Wednesday (10/28) at 5:30. These Open Houses are a great way to learn more about the college, programs of study and transfer opportunities. We have asked financial aid experts from MEFA and Teri College planning to give an overview of financing your college career. These Open Houses are free and really informative, so please pass this on to family, friends and neighbors.
Until next week,
Jen Kirk
